One of the questions that we have is about death. We may not want to think about it ourselves and that's okay But we will find it is around us It may be a relative, it may be a friend, and suddenly they are not there. Sometimes we just simply freeze, turn off, and don't think about it. We don't want to know about it The person who was there isn't anymore and yet somehow it doesn't quite satisfy. We know that eventually our physical form will return from whence it came and that is to the earth, to the process of nature, to the continuing of life on this planet. ... On Learning To Swim At Depth
Once upon a time, there was a penguin who knew he could swim far deeper than the ice permitted. On the surface, he looked right enough. Black back. White chest. Upright posture. He waddled when expected to waddle. He nodded when the others nodded. From a distance, he was indistinguishable from the rest of the colony, shelved neatly among his kind. But inside, something kept humming. ... One of the phrases we may often hear is going with the flow. The image, of course, is the river returning to the source, but we're only looking for this particular journey where we come from the source and we return to the source.
And this is where it becomes quite challenging for us because we really do need to have some direction, some sort of stability in our journey so that we can be led along a path that will suit us, and we can be trustful and let ourselves go into the great river of life. The time is always now. That is where our center of being is. Through that central self we can begin to see the world around us with a different view. The turning around is to feel within yourself an extra quality, an extra presence. We really have to go back to the simple system of being still and quiet.
We are encouraged to look outwards for our survival, for our pleasure, for our social interaction, many layers where we seek comfort, meaning and purpose.
But a human being also has a consciousness. It's that consciousness that makes all things part of the one. |
