News and Reflections March – April 2025 Is This As Good As It Gets? Looking at humanity at the moment, I sometimes wonder if there has to be a better way than just surviving or existing. There is a growing desire for heart-centred connections in our communities, and it is our vision to encourage this, small as it may seem. I know that many other people feel the same. So, what is holding us back? Humans are incredibly resilient and very amazing. So why do we persist in settling for a mediocre ordinary life, when we could evolve and flourish so much more. ![]() What kind of world do we want to live in? We have a choice, and we are capable of change. I know there are so many like-minded people who want this so what can we do? You may say to yourself, ‘I am only one insignificant person’, but even small groups of like-minded people can make a difference. Remember the quote, ‘where two or three people are gathered together, there I AM.’ It is the energy and intention that count. Maybe it is TIME to think about forming small groups to chat about things that matter and even meditate together. Find your passion, think about it and email me if you need advice, suggestions, and guidance. On that note, some of you are aware that we are holding weekly conversations and meditations online. It’s a very small group, but the energy is good, and we experiment to see where it is going with like-minded thoughts and concepts. Anyone is welcome to join our pathlight community, even if you only observe. Support and Encouragement Streamed Meditation We stream an online meditation session on Tuesday, 9am Perth time. A support group energy may help with connecting for some personal refreshment. Guided Meditation We email a Guided Meditation each week. It may soothe and quieten our minds and help with sleep and relaxation. They are also intended to take us a little deeper for clarity and to strengthen our resilience. Pathlight Conversations On Wednesday we stream Pathlight Connections. A mix of a short discussion followed by a creative visualisation opening us to a still mind. Its pretty crazy out there at the moment. Our life in the world is having significant adjustment. As we have said above, humanity is very resilient. It is amazing we are still around, but we are. Pathlight’s intention is to encourage and support in such a way as to create opportunity for a refreshed personal journey. Emotional Energy. (GM 166) Our emotions override our thoughts. Sometimes this is alright as it may enhance our appreciation of what is coming in through our feelings. But sometimes a thought triggers an emotion of fear, particularly a “What If” thought. This feeds back to our emotions and we find ourselves in a spiral, a cycle of worry. I think most of us, if not all of us experience this. When we find this happening our breathing can become quite shallow. We are not replenishing our energy. Deepening our breathing can help wrest our thoughts back into control. To deepen our breathing we may find the ‘box breathing’ helpful. Breathe in to the count of four, hold for the count of four, breathe out to the count of four, hold for the count of four and then we repeat the cycle of breathing at your own pace. (e.g. “In 2,3,4. Hold 2,3,4. Out 2,3,4. Hold 2,3,4.”) After several rounds we will notice our breathing becomes much deeper. This will begin to rebuild the energy that leaches away in the worry cycle. It is one of those activities that we will need to practice. Hidden Resources (GM 167) From time to time we will experience a transforming energy rising from deep within us. It may be triggered by a line in a book, a short dialogue in a movie, being with somebody who’s very special, or perhaps meeting somebody and really feeling that tingling glow as we move on feeling better. These are tiny glimpses of who we really are underneath our stories, our culture, and even our belief systems. Tiny glimpses because we have chosen to experience life as a human being with all its ups and downs. This transforming power is what we are really looking for but it is so ephemeral and so elusive we tend to put it aside. In mindfulness meditation we take an approach to allow on that presence within us, open to it and let it influence and even make sense of our path through life. Wind Gusts The title may seem a little strange. Sometimes out of the blue our world becomes disturbed. I am not referring to big things, but the little thoughts that sneak in and disturb us often by becoming all consuming. It is helpful to put together a deeper story of who we are. To believe that there is a purpose for our life and a purpose for life’s experiences. And not least, to construct a framework where we understand that we do have choice and that we can ask for help from our unseen energies. In these meditations we may relax our body and our mind and create an opportunity to come to the realisation that there is far more to us than we may realise - our deep self.
