The Elusive Present Moment
We have great difficulty bringing ourselves more into the present moment, as we keep stepping out into the future.
Yes, this is probably unavoidable because you are bombarded with things all the time. And so you tend to look outside of yourself. However, the time will come when this won’t be necessary and you will be able to focus more on your current present moment.
That does not mean you can do this instantly. But you can make time during the day just to have a few quiet moments when you can do this. And what I am pointing out is, that if you allow things around you to affect you, that is when you spend a lot of time in the future saying, ‘what if?’.
There are no ‘what ifs’. And so, to have these thoughts of possible disasters or catastrophes is not conducive to a peaceful mind-body-spirit. You follow that?
I am focusing on keeping you as much to the present moment as possible, because allowing outside influences will take you into the future, which does not exist. There is no ‘what if’. So, do not speculate.
And of course, many people on your earth plane are very, very rigid and stuck in their old way of thinking. You are very primitive in some of your attitudes.
Many seek answers!
But then there are many people who are looking outside of that little box and making efforts to do away with this stuck energy, and are making efforts to rid themselves of their primitive attitudes.
Unfortunately, many people still are very afraid of the concept of free will. That is the greatest gift you have ever been given, that is your freedom. Your freedom to make choices. But so many people are afraid that if you are allowed make choices it will be disastrous. That is looking to the future. Do you follow that?
Yes I do see that.
So to bring yourself back into the present moment, it doesn’t matter what choices you make because they have not happened. They are in the present moment. You have chosen to be in that present moment, right here, right now.
The great freedom: is not to choose!
So in the present moment, right here right now, having chosen to be here and now, no other choice is necessary?
Yes, because the choice is that which serves you best. And that is to be right here right now.
That answers a question raised in one of Patanjali’s yoga sutras, which was something like, the greatest choice is not to choose.
Yes. Precisely. (giggles in the background!). You have been given free choice to not choose at all. To do nothing. That is the greatest, ultimate choice. To do nothing.
And you can only do that….
….. in the present moment. Correct, well done.
It sounds quite simple!
Well, to put that into practice is not quite as easy as it sounds. Because you are constantly venturing outside your present moment into separation, then you direct your thoughts to those ‘what ifs’.
And that is what drains my energy.
Now perhaps you are taking this into yourselves and learning how to apply it in your everyday separation. But do not feel a failure if it does not happen every moment of your day. Because the present moment is not separation. You need the separation so you can experience it. I will speak more of that later.
So your separation is your day?
That is your day. Your day in separation is not the present moment. Can you see the difference.
Yes I can, the day is progressing, moving through time.
Because creation is not permanent you must live in this illusion while you are here. However, in small pockets of this illusion you can be in this present moment and say. ‘this is the best moment of my life’. And it is!
Okay I see there will only be these tiny little glimpses.
Every time you are able to do that you are taking one step further along the path to nowhere. Because that step to nowhere is achieving more and more by being in the now. So every time you are able to remember, ‘this is the best moment of my life’ this becomes more and more part of you. And it reveals that which is in your knowing. It strengthens your awareness. Alright!
Yes I am following
I see in that tiny little step, the ‘what ifs’ and the ‘might bes’, are what pull me back and drain my energy.
Yes, because you can see what is happening with other people. And that is what really drains your energy. You can see that they are still outside of this present moment all the time worrying about what is going to happen, which may never happen. That is because they want to follow the rules.
But you say there are no spiritual rules?
There are no rules. But of course that is very frightening for some people. Because people need rules. If you were to have a true understanding of what it means to be free, free from rules, and free of choice which does not need to be a choice, if you truly understood that there would be no fear.
The fear of what might happen.
That is what makes people act in the way that they do. Wanting to control, wanting to regulate other people. To make the rules because they have fear. They are afraid of what might happen if people are not governed by rules.
But they do not understand the true nature of their higher selves. That is alright, there is no judgement - Remember you all have free choice to choose your path.
They are not even aware that there is another way
What do you mean?
I mean many people are driven only by their separated needs, in their material state.
There is no sense of direction. People are afraid to see. So it is the fear that causes all of these disturbances on your earth plane.
It is the fear that creates my agitation with what might be.
So what do you do with fear.
Come back from the ‘what ifs’ and love.
Replace fear with love, with joy and centre yourself in your happiness.
